Kelvinator has used the name "Golden Touch" to describe its remarkable and exclusive agitator action which combines vigorous water turbulence with gentle handling of clothes to produce the cleanest washing available to the modern housewife. The Kelvinator agitator moves with an eccentric motion in one direction only, as 180 scientifically placed holes in the agitator create thousands of jets of sudsy water per minute. This combination of one-direction agitator motion and water-jet turbulence produces the tremendous agitator action we call the "Golden Touch." |

How to Repair Appliances
Here is a wonderful book full of pictures and information of vintage washing machines and other vintage 1950's major and small appliances. This is the most complete book on appliance repair ever prepared for the home handyman. Automatic Washers, Dryers, Refrigerators, Vacuum Cleaners, Fans, Mixers, Toasters as well as special chapters are devoted to the proper use and repair of freezers, air conditioners, rotary ironers, waffle irons, grills and heating units. Before plunging into the repair of specific items, the author introduces the reader to the sources of power—electricity-—then covers the manner in which this power is transported to the home in a chapter on House Wiring. The Maytag Dependability Story
This is another wonderful and rare piece of history. It was produced to explain the many proceeses involved in producing an automatic washer, dryer and combination washer-dryer utilized at Maytag's Newton, IA factory. This large format book (8.5 x 9) is filled with 20 rare full size photos of the major processes in the factory along with full descriptions of what you are seeing, such as: Maytag wash baskets must be properly balanced so they will spin smoothly during the water extraction phase of the cycle. The balancer, shown in this photograph, will indicate on a dial just where the additional weights must be added to the balancing ring to provide the specified smooth spin.
