The following suggestions and recommendations are provided to aid in the installation of the new Frigidaire Automatic Washer. It is the User's responsibility to provide the necessary electrical and plumbing facilities, and they should conform to the following recommendations.
The washer is equipped with a 6-foot electric cord and plug. The supply circuit should be protected with a 15 ampere time-delay type of fuse. Do not use ordinary quick-blowing fuses.
The use of light extension cords is discouraged because of the possible excessive voltage drop which may result; which, in turn, may be sufficient to cause improper operation of the washer.
Unless there is an electrical circuit available that does not have appliances connected to it which are in regular use, it is suggested that a separate electrical circuit for 115 volt, 60 cycle, single phase, alternating current or 100 volt, 50 cycle, single phase, alternating current for machines designed for 50 cycle circuits. No. 12 wire should be installed from the distribution panel to a receptacle near the permanent location of the washer. In some installations a reset type circuit breaker may be part of the original wiring installation. Check to see that the correct size element is installed.
The washer cold water inlet hose has a molded-in ground wire which effectively grounds the washer. Do not couple additional lengths of ordinary hose together as this would break the ground connection. Use extension hoses with built-in ground wire, available from Frigidaire Service Stocks.
The electrical installation should conform to the existing local electrical wiring and National Electric Codes.
