The Power Mate is only 4" high and it glides easily under low furniture. 1 Insert dust bag-a paper bag must be in place when cleaner is in use (See instruction below).
2 Insert hose-push button on short end of the hose and insert the hose into the suction opening. To remove, reverse this procedure.
3 Connect wand to hand grip by depressing button in hand grip of hose, lining up button with opening in wand. Button will snap into place when secured. To disconnect, reverse procedure using twisting action.
DISPOSABLE PAPER BAGS
To open cover, pull knob out and lift.
Place elastic opening on bag directly under and touching tube opening. Pull bag up and onto the tube as far as possible. To remove dust bag, carefully pull off and discard. After bag is in place open pleats of bag paying particular attention to comers on both sides of opening so that bag will fill completely. Close hood, being careful not to catch the bag between the hood and the base.
For best performance, remove paper bag before it becomes packed. Remember to attach a fresh bag so your Kenmore will be ready for use when needed. Additional disposable bags (No. 4007) may be ordered from any Sears or Simpsons-Sears retail or mail order store.

4 Connect wands. For ad-
ditional length, connect I the second wand to the first wand in the same manner as outlined in Step 3.
5 Connect attachment-
Insert tapered end of wand into attachment until secure. To disconnect, reverse procedure.
6 Start motor. Plug cord into wall outlet. Turn on switch and start cleaning.
SUCTION
When using suction cleaning tools, insert hose into opening in front of cleaner. Button lock on hose will hold hose securely. The adjustable suction control knob, below hand grip, reduces suction for cleaning draperies, throw rugs, etc. When suction control knob is closed, nozzle receives full suction power; power is reduced as control is opened.
Lady Kenmore owners may achieve infinite suction variance using their 2 speed motor, in conjunction with the suction control knob.
BLOWING
Your Lady Kenmore, Horizon, Saturn, and Aurora have new and improved diffusion for quieter operation. When cleaning radiators, mothproofing closets, etc., remove diffuser plug (pictured at right) and insert short end of hose into opening at bottom of cleaner. Be sure to clean inside of the hose before blowing by connecting short end of hose to blower opening and insert hand grip into suction opening. Run motor a few minutes.
Page 14:
ADAPTABILITY AND STORAGE
A comfortable handle is provided so that you may carry this cleaner to any part of your home, even to the garage for cleaning the automobile.
Your Kenmore Vacuum Cleaner may be set on end. This makes the cleaning of stairs especially convenient.
Even the models with wands and attachments stored on the cleaner can be stored in a minimum amount of space.
Because this cleaner is so compact, storage possibilities are unlimited. It may be stored in a small closet, on a shelf, or even under the bed.
Page 15:
LITTLE CARE NEEDED
Your Kenmore will require very little care and attention. If you will remember to replace the dust bag frequently, your Cleaner will operate efficiently for years to come. You will find it beneficial to wash the brush attachments occasionally so they are always clean and ready for use when needed.
Hair pins, paper clips, toothpicks, etc., may become lodged in the hose, obstructing passage of dust. This reduces suction and may cause motor to overload. Use a stiff wire to remove these obstructions. (See Blowing.)
The filter should be lifted off periodically and dusted with a brush or vacuumed. Be sure to replace filter immediately.
Be sure diffuser ( See Blowing page 11) is always in place when using for suction cleaning.

of home appliances with your KENMORE CENTRAL VACUUM CLEANING
SYSTEM .. . . consumer tested as the very best buy .
Your CENTRAL CLEANING SYSTEM is ideal for every type of
cleaning . .. carpets, floors, blinds, upholstery . There
are tools provided to make each cleaning job easier and more
thorough . You will work more efficiently without a
heavy machine to carry or drag about . Your cleaning will be
more complete than with conventional methods, and without
recirculation of fine dust . The exhaust is vented outside your
house. Because the power unit is located away from
the living area, you clean without noise ; without disturbing
anyone in sick rooms, the nursery or watching TV programs.
The Vac-Mop serves a dual function-washing
and drying the floor. The sponge side is
used for washing floors, windows , or other
hard surfaced areas. After washing with the
sponge, press it against the floor to remove
excess water. Use the blade side to vacuum
up water or spills.
1967-1971 Sears Kenmore Sales Circulars - Vacuum Cleaners and Floor Care
In the late 1960's and early 1970's Sears would mail large format (12.5" x 11") advertising circulars. Here is a collection of the Vacuum Cleaners, Shop-Vacs and Floor Polisher sections from my collection of these circulars from 1967 to 1971.
