1957 Philco-Bendix Economat Brochure
Bendix laundry equipment became Philco-Bendix for the 1957 line after the laundry division was sold to Philco. Here is the very first Philco-Bendix branded Economat automatic washer. The Economat was Bendix's "Rubber Squeeze Tub" washer. Instead of spinning to remove the water from the clothes used a rubber tub that would collapse under vacuum pressure to press and squeeze the clothes against the perforated agitator. This model was the very last rubber tub produced. |

Philco 1962 Wonder-Wash-Agitator Automatic Washer Brochures
Philco introduced their wobbling rubber disk agitator in 1959 on their full size automatic washers. In 1961 the machine was redesigned with a slightly larger and now perforated wash tub but still using the 1959 agitator design. These amazing brochures highlight these first perforated tub machines.
