1957 Philco-Bendix Economat Brochure
Bendix laundry equipment became Philco-Bendix for the 1957 line after the laundry division was sold to Philco. Here is the very first Philco-Bendix branded Economat automatic washer. The Economat was Bendix's "Rubber Squeeze Tub" washer. Instead of spinning to remove the water from the clothes used a rubber tub that would collapse under vacuum pressure to press and squeeze the clothes against the perforated agitator. This model was the very last rubber tub produced. |
